The Correlation between the Movements of Acanthina Spirata and the Density of Balanus Glandula Available for Food
Abstract
Acanthine spirata is a small, little studied predatory
snail. It lives along the Pacific Coast in the intertidal
region and feeds on the barnacle, Balanus glandula. In this
study the movements of this snail were studied in relation to
the density of its food supply. The purpose of this study
was to show that a predator, such as Acanthina spirata, does
range further when the density of the food supply is low.
