Summary of a Legal Internship S.I.P.
Abstract
When I made the decision to forego a typical S.I.P. in
favor of a one unit credit legal internship, I did so for
two reasons. First, and also my primary reason, since I had
transferred to Kalamazoo College at the beginning of my junior
year, I never had the opportunity to participate in a
career service quarter. I felt this left me at quite a disadvantage,
since many persons had worked for lawyers during
career service and were more aware of what the day to day
routine of a law office consisted of, whereas I knew virtually
nothing. I felt a legal internship would allow me to make
a more informed decision of whether or not to attend law
school. My second reason was to spend some time reading
various books which Sue Steward had selected which she felt
would help me when taking the remainder of the Senior Comps
in the spring. The attorney I
worked for, Harry Contos Jr., dealt primarily with divorce,
workmen's compensation, and insurance cases, along with wills. If you are not a current K College student, faculty, or staff member, email dspace@kzoo.edu to request access to this SIP.
