Women in the Michigan Legislature: A Study of Demographic Factors of Their Constituencies 1960-1970
MetadataShow full item record
I have compiled demographic information on the legislative districts in which women have been elected to the state House and Senate from 1960 through 1968. It is my initial hypothesis that these districts share some demographic similarities, such as a high percentage of college-educated voters, which may have influenced voting behavior. I have also interv1ewed the women involved in order to learn about the1r attitudes and experiences and to offer answers to some of the questions raised above. It must be recognized that this paper is but a small beginning to what should be an extensive study. The results are significant only as they relate to other factors concerning Michigan women in the legislature. If you are not a current K College student, faculty, or staff member, email firstname.lastname@example.org to request access to this SIP.
