The ACLU and its Fight for Freedom. Plus, a Perspective on Drug Testing in the Workplace
Abstract
I researched the development of the ACLU to show how from its very beginning, it took on an important role in our society. To show how the historical role of the ACLU's vigilance for liberty has remained unchanged through the years, I included accounts of two First Amendment cases in our area of Michigan (the First Amendment has always been an area the Union has regarded with special importance.) Also included is a topical issue of today that the ACLU is involved in on the national scale: drug-testing, among the biggest threats to the liberty of our countrymen today. I hope that this paper conveys to the reader the vital part the ACLU plays in retaining, protecting, and strengthening the civil liberties of the American people.
