It is my desire to create as objective a picture as I can of the methods of labor in the area of endorsement of candidates for political office. I shall describe the endorsement operation of the most complete and well organized labor organization in Michigan today, the Wayne County Council of the AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education, hereafter referred to as the Wayne County COPE. I have chosen this particular organization for two reasons: (1) within its membership is the giant United Automobile Workers, the UAW, one of the largest and most politically aware unions in the United States today; and (2) I feel that the Wayne County COPE is the model on which further political organization, both in labor and business, will be based. If you are not a current K College student, faculty, or staff member, email firstname.lastname@example.org to request access to this SIP.
