Abstract
Americans are examined in several films which are aiming at revealing thoughts and feelings. The different realms of thought and areas of feeling are the departure point of these essays. First, the American Dream as it relates to searching for self in travel is examined in "Isadora" and "The Midnight Cowboy." Second is violence as a part of American or specifically human life in "The Wild Bunch" and "Medium Cool." And third is the influence and emergence of some of the ideas of the Underground filmmakers in "Alice's Restaurant" and "Easy Rider." These three essays constitute my ideas about films and some of my feelings about America. That the two may complement each other is my perspective and to draw qualified logical judgments is my aim.
