Abstract
This study includes studies performed while I interned for Michigan State
Senator John Cherry (Dem., Mt. Morris). The internship included
legislation research as well as multiple dimensions of constituency
relations. I answered constituency calls, opened constituent mail and
responded to each with letters and calls. Requests led to come into contact
with many government organizations such as the Secretary of State's
office, Department of Social Services, Attorney general and many
encounters with the Senate Democratic Staff which supplied our office
and all democratic Senate offices with invaluable information. My
experiences in the office are further explained in an informal journal at
the end of this paper.
