Using Bernard Crick's distinctions of political discourse and practice, the paper will examine three leading theorists of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) between 1891 and 1914. Karl Kautsky, Rosa Luxemburg, and Eduard Bernstein proposed three different pathways to the realization of revolutionary change. Although all three operated within the theoretical framework of Marxist socialism, their political programs differed significantly.en_US
