More and more women in the past decade have become involved in politics. There has been an increasing need for women in political positions representing women's views and issues. Participation by women in politics is a problem, there is a general lack of it. Women only gained the right to vote in 1920, while some men have been voting for centuries. They have taken a back seat since the beginning of time in the household, in careers, and in politics; even language is male-dominated. We must look into backgrounds, values and traditions to see why women are absent from politics. To find out why one must begin looking back into history and to the "fathers" of politics: Plato and Aristotle.
