Abstract
In all democratic states and societies there exists a specific relationship between
education and democracy. The role of the educational system within a democracy
should be to preserve and promote the democratic elements and principles which already
exist within the system. This is dependent upon specific democratic goals, aims, and
methods in the education system. It is the purpose of this paper to discuss exactly how
the education system in the Federal Republic of Germany perpetuates the existing form
of democracy.
