Corporate Average Fuel Economy: An Extinct Dinosaur or an Environmental Solution
MetadataShow full item record
This analysis will begin with an examination of the history of Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards: why they were implemented and what they meant for the manufacturers and consumers. The criticisms of CAFE by these groups and by environmentalists will be presented as well as the successes of the program. The future of CAFE is also of concern. It seems certain that CAFE will be adapted in some way, but uncertain whether the standards will be loosened or tightened. The reader should have a clear view of the different sides of the CAFE issue; the pros and cons of a program which has important implications for our economy and environment. If you are not a current K College student, faculty, or staff member, email firstname.lastname@example.org to request access to this SIP.
