Abstract
Greene Hamster Melanoma Virus is also a RNA tumor virus. It is although a mammalian virus, not avian. However, due to the great similarities of the two systems, it was felt that t-RNA trp may also be a primer of DNA synthesis in the mammalian system. We were able to show through 32p labeling of the viral RNA and amino acylation of the RNA that there is trp-tRNA in the viral particle. This finding should allow us to show that this t-RNA will bind specifically to reverse transcriptase and that without the t-RNA DNA synthesis will not take place.
