A Statistical Analysis of Small Amplitude Water Waves
Abstract
The evaluation and analysis of random data is of importance in many fields of study. Among its areas of importance are the studies of acoustic noise, economic data, biomedical data, and water waves. The following report is an experimental study of the random wave heights of small-amplitude water waves in a tank. The waves are made by means of a random wave generator and detected by a resistance probe. The analysis is then done by applying the statistical methods available for analyzing random data.
