Selected Chapters from "Elemens de la Philosophie de Neuton" [par] Voltaire : chapters I - V, and XVI - VVI
Abstract
The following is a translation from Elemens de la
philosophie de Neuton. The volume I used is in Michigan
State University's Special Collections department of their
main library. Its call number is QA 803 .V94 1738. I have
taken most of the figures from a reprint of a translation
done in 1738. Its title and call number are The elements of
Sir Isaac Newton's philosophy, by John Hanna, London, Cass
1967, QA 803 .V94l3 1967. Where necessary, I have changed
lettering to agree with the figures, rather than following
a strict translation from the French and changing the figures
to match. For the pleasure of the reader, I have added
four illustrations from a copy of Metamorphos d'Ovide
printed in 1677 by Francois Foppens in Brussels.
