The Turkish Political System 27 May 1960 - 12 March 1971
Abstract
What has been attempted in this paper is an analysis of the
Turkish political structure, with primary emphasis on the political
parties. Although I have concentrated on the period since 1960. I have
provided a brief history of the Republic in order to put the last
decade in perspective. The analysis, then, falls into two parts. First,
there is a narrative of Turkish politics from the 27th of May, 1960,
through to the 12th of March, 1971. The second section is an analysis of the individual forces at
work within the Turkish system--parties, ideology, students, the
military --making use of the material given in the narrative. If you are not a current K College student, faculty, or staff member, email dspace@kzoo.edu to request access to this SIP.
