Abstract
Initially, I faced the task of gaining a firm working knowledge of the Costa Rican system and its history. After familiarizing myself with this information, I proceeded to the controversial issues which Costa Rica now faces. The final, and most difficult task, was assimilating this vast amount of information into what I considered to be the most probable and accurate predictions possible. I believe that I have been successfull in this endeavor. Although Nicaragua and its politics play a very important role in the Costa Rican situation, I have decided only to discuss the subject only when it is pertainant to the theme. The inclusion of the current Nicaraguan situation and its controversy would overshadow the significance of the Costa Rican condition, as it does in the American media.
