dc.description.abstractIn this project, the effects of DMP and, DnBP, as well as DEHP on the lipid metabolism in the rat was studied. Equimolar amounts (2.5 mmole/l00 g) of DEHP, DnBP, DMP were mixed with" stock diets and fed to groups of eight rats over a 21 day period. This corresponded to I % DEHP diet, 0.7 % DnBP diet, 0.5 % DHP diet. Classical signs of toxicology such as food consumption and % weight gain were checked at seven day intervals. At the end of the diet study, signs of gross pathological effects on the liver, and liver size were checked. More subtle effects of DMP and DnBP on lipid metabolism were investigated. Serum cholesterol levels were enzymatically measured at .~ seven day intervals. Total hepatic lipid content and total hepatic cholesterol content were also measured.en_US
