Cause and Effects of Plant Closings
Abstract
It is the purpose of this paper to examine both the causes
and effects of plant closings. The first several chapters will
deal with the incidence and causes of closings while the
later chapters will focus on the detrimental impacts and
possible solutions. To truly understand the problem of
plant closings and relocations, however, one should be at
least somewhat familiar with location theory, as presented
by proponents of an unrestricted free market. Therefore,
a brief synopsis of this theory follows. (Chapter 8 contains
a critique of this theory.) If you are not a current K College student, faculty, or staff member, email dspace@kzoo.edu to request access to this SIP.
