The mass media is one of the most powerful tools of our democracy. Dissemination of information among the masses is the prime factor of democracy, and the media, in its advanced technological state, is an excellent tool to this end. Educational television experiments have revealed that people can learn many things better from television than from a live person since distraction is minimized and the focal point is concentrated. However, some studies have come to the conclusion that television's greatest potential lies as a "training, conditioning or brainwashing device."
