Abstract
I chose one particular writer to study: V. S. Naipaul. Naipaul offered the diversity I needed to examine the political novel as well as political non-fiction. Though rare, Naipaul is successful at both. So through Naipaul not only did I gain insight into man as a political animal in a general abstract sense but I became aware of man in his actual political environments; environments which, in many cases I knew nothing about. In this respect Naipaul opened up the world for me.
