This paper is an in-depth study of the politics of the town of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. In researching this topic, I applied a broad definition in interpreting what was political. It is my belief that to limit the study of politics to merely observing the behavior of elected officials is to observe only the result of politics, rather than the process of politics. It is this reasoning that spawns discussion and investigation of organizations and procedures that might not traditionally be considered political.
