Abstract
The Consular Corps has received very little attention as a subject of study whereas Embassies have been the focus of many reports. This study is designed to acquaint the reader with one section of the West German Foreign Ministry, the Consulate General in particular, and the Consular Corps in general. The functions of the Corps of different nations vary; any generalizations that are made are intended to focus on West Germany. The Consulates of the Federal Republic in the United States primarily have the same responsibilities, differences are appropriately noted.
