Social Justice Groups
MetadataShow full item record
This is a study of six political organizations in the Ann Arbor area based on personal interviews with some of their leaders and members. All six of the groups have as their main focus one or more of the following issues: the arms race/U.S. militarism, hunger, human rights. I have designated these organizations as social justice groups, a special type of public interest group. This paper will define what social justice groups are and describe some of their generally applicable characteristics. It discusses the issues such groups deal with, the tactics they utilize to effect change and their role in societal transformation. Also included is a section on individual commitment to social justice which helps to fill out my description of these groups.
