My senior thesis consisted of prostaglandin research at The Upjohn Company under the supervision of Dr. William P. Schneider. The thesis involved two research projects for The Upjohn Company. For the first project, I developed a procedure to determine the enantiomeric (optical) purity of an asymmetric center in prostaglandins by analysis of the nuclear magnetic resonance (nmr) of the ά-methoxy-ά-'trifluormetbylphenylacetyl ether derivative. In the second project, I began the development of gas-liquid chromatographic assay for nanogram amounts of prostaglandins using a halomethyldimetbylsiyl ether derivative.
