The Synthesis of Some Compounds Related to 3’, 4’-dihydroxy-2-dimethylaminoacetophenone to Be Tested for Anti-leukemic Activity
MetadataShow full item record
In this paper some of the facts known about this disease will be presented. Much work has been done in an attempt to find a cure, or ultimately, to prevent its development. Many chemical compounds have been tested, and some have given very impressive results. A brief mention of the nature of some of these will be made, and finally, a detailed description of the synthesis of ten compounds will be presented. One of these has already shown definite activity in the retardation of lymphatic leukemia in previous testing; the others are closely related compounds, which will be submitted to the National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health for•screening. Even if none of the additional compounds shows significant biological activity, perhaps the lack of activity will provide insight into the nature of the combination of the active compound and its receptor site in the cell.
