Organic Derivatives of Selected Solid Ketones

For many years certain derivatives have been used for identification of ketones in organic qualitative analysis. The most common of these are semicarbazones, 2,4-dinitropheny1hydrazones, p-nitropheny1hydrazones, pheny1hydrazones, andoximes. Because of the wide-spread use of these derivatives, tables of data, such as Z. Rappoport, compiler, "Handbook of Tables for Organic Compound Identification," 3rd ed., The Chemical Rubber Co., Cleveland, Ohio, 1967, have been compiled about these derivatives for most ketones. These tables, however, are not complete. This, then, is the reason for this particular research, to obtain data on some of the unlisted derivatives and make them available to those students and researchers who are in need it.
