Abstract
Abstract: 6-chloro-3,4-xylyl methylcarbamate insecticide was tested under .the code U-12,927, tradename Banol, against Galleria mellonella L. larvae 0 outstanding insecticidal activity has been demonstrated in field control of several cotton insects, some mite species, and several beetle, mosquito, XlO and l~pedopterous larvae species. There was no lethal activity recorded against wax moth larvae (Galleria mellonella L.) in both topical and injected treatment with Banol up to the dosage of 730 ug. Banal / gm. larva}, although total cholinesterase (ehE) in~ibition was reported with dosage as low as 7.3 ug. Banol/ gm. larva~. Metabolic studies suggested that Banol was metabolized into less toxic products by the wax moth larvae. Slight lethal activity of Banol + synergist was noted in the injected treatment.
