Targeting Prostate Cancer Cells with Ni Nanowires.
The ability of nickel nanowires to find an affinity toward living cells is demonstrated for PC3M, PC3, DU145 Tumorogenic cells and RWPE-2 normal prostate cells. Ni nanowires were produced by electrodeposition. The affinity of these nanowires for attachment to RWPE-2 cells and PC3M cells were studied.MTT assay was performed to determine the survival of the cells after nanowires had been introduced to their environment. The sugar Lewis Y tetrasaccaride, which is specifically found on several types of cancerous cells, can be tagged onto the wires to specifically target cancer cells.
