Abstract
The focus of this project was to use bulky immine and carboxylate ligands to produce new copper II compounds. A number of compounds have already been synthesized and characterized using these types of ligands with copper by previous S.I.P. students. The ligands used in this project were 7-azaindole, 2,2"-bipyridine, diphenylacetic acid, a-cyclohexylphenylacetic acid, and cyclohexanecarboxylic acid. Threenew compounds were produced by this research. A crystal structurewas able to be produced for one of the new compounds. Using data produced by previous S.I.P. students, IR, and UV/Vis spectroscopy, approximate structures were proposed for the unsolved products.
