dc.description.abstractHeterocyclic molecules constitute a unique area of chemistry. Of particular interest is the chemistry of strained heterocyclics, which exhibit many interesting characteristics under various reaction conditions. This study focuses on determining the nature of the products of the reactions of exo-2,3-epoxynorbornane and exo-2,3-epoxybornane with trimetaylsilyl cyanide in the presence of zinc iodide, in hopes of determining whether the reactions occur with or without rearrangement of the carbon skeleton.en_US
