Abstract
In this experiment we have developed polyacrylamide nano-particles matrices that deliver coomassie-blue dye to L9 glioma tumor cells. The shape of the biologically-inert nano-particles allows for the free exchange of chemicals between the matrix and the surrounding brain tissue. The advantage of this process is based on the delineation of cancerous brain tissue from healthy brain tissue, with coomassie-blue dye functioning primarily as a contrast agent, such that invasive brain surgery removes the entire tumor and leaves the normal brain tissue unharmed. The average synthesis yield was calculated to be 73.9%, and the average dye amount that was loading onto each batch of particles was calculated to be 6.71%. The dye-loaded nano-particles were found to sufficiently stain the L9 glioma tumor cells during In vitro experimental trials. The characterization of the nano-particles was carried out with a Nova Scanning Electron Microscope, of which the topography was uniformly spherical. The average diameter of the nano-particles was calculated to be 23 (±) 1.27 nm.
