Abstract
Although more people die every year from firearm suicides than from firearm homicides, firearms possession laws have a crime control strategy that focuses on removing firearms from criminals. This study conducted an analysis of firearm possession laws, using violent data from the Firearm Injury Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Further research, particularly in the areas of domestic violence crimes, and juvenile information, and better data linking systems are necessary to work towards fewer violent firearm fatalities.
