MetadataShow full item record
Kalamazoo College intramural pushball game between freshmen and sophomores, 1907. Pushball was invented in Massachusetts in 1894 and taken up by Harvard University the next year, but its popularity was brief. It is similar to football, except the ball is 6 feet in diameter and weighs 50 pounds; teams push it into the goal for a touchdown. Two men in the center of this photograph are sitting on the ball. Players and the photographer are unknown.
