    Kalamazoo College 1935 May Fete
    (Kalamazoo College, 1935-05) Unknown
The 1935 May Fete procession on the Kalamazoo College quadrangle. The May Fete was first held at the College by the women's Eurodelphian Gamma society in 1883, but it did not take off as a tradition until the early 20th century. It consisted of a full day of activities, with music, athletic events, parades, dancing, and banquet meals. In the 1940s, military air shows were part of the festivities. The crowning of the May Queen was a highlight. In 1935, the queen was Laurene McCrimmon, and the pageant theme was "Orpheus and Eurydice." The May Fete faded out of College tradition in the 1960s. The photographer is not identified.
