John Theophilus and Solomon Jeffrey Williamson graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1911. The brothers came from Wallingford, Jamaica. Solomon first appeared at the college during the 1903-04 academic year as a pupil in the Preparatory Department. John enrolled during the 1907-08 year as a freshman. Right after graduation, John would begin studies at the University of Chicago. However, by April of 1912 John began employment at the Tuskegee Institute. He remained an active alumni, becoming the class representative for 1911 graduates. Solomon was an active member of the college Y.M.C.A. as a student, holding the elected position of missionary. He also wrote articles and poetry that were published in the college newspaper The Index. Both brothers were members of the Sherwood Rhetorical Society as students. This collection includes many of the publications by and about the Williamson brothers.
